Caring for your wood is important if you want it to last forever. So here are some tips on how best to do that 😀
For indoor products, there are three major factors that require consideration.
1. Humidity
Be aware of humidity levels. As a material, wood is sensitive to extremes in humidity. To ensure the piece's longevity, try to keep the room's humidity level between 40 and 45%. If humidity levels drop below this, your piece may crack. If humidity levels move above 45%, your piece may swell.
Avoid high heat areas. Do not place your piece in high-heat areas (near radiators, etc.) as this can stress the wood and lead to cracks.
It is important to be able to differentiate between a crack produced by unnatural sources and one that is the natural reaction of a hygroscopic slab of natural wood that is adapting to its surroundings, or simply aging.
Once again, small cracks, surface cracks, long thin cracks, and movement around knots are completely normal and are likely to develop over a lifetime of use and we provide no warranty against these occurrences.
2. Surface care
Based on your preference, we use one of two finishes on all our products:
- A commercial grade hard oil/wax
- A commercial grade water-based polyurethane
If finished with hard oil/wax
Dust regularly using a lint-free micro-fibre cloth. Dust build-up on wooden furniture can lead to scratches. Please note: dry dusting is not recommended, as it may scratch your piece.
Clean your table using either wood oil or a soft cloth dipped in a mild soap solution without alcohol or perfumes.
Please note: any liquid spills MUST be cleaned immediately; blot them using a clean, highly absorbent cloth.
We recommend using coasters at all times, especially with hot items or items containing liquids, to avoid the possibility of rings.
Quarterly re-application of an oil/wax is recommended to keep the wood properly conditioned and provide ongoing protection.
If finished with water based polyurethane
There are three cleaners officially approved to be used on this finish:
- Magic Cabinet & Wood by Magic
- Thomasville Kitchen Cabinet Cream by Thomasville Wood Care
- Greenworks Natural by Clorox, diluted (1 part of cleaner in 1 part of water)
In most cases, a cotton cloth and water is the most recommended option to clean the surface. Or, a solution of white vinegar diluted with water 10:1 will remove dust and oil without damaging the finish.
If you need to use one of the recommended cleaners, follow the procedure below:
- Avoid spray of the indicated cleaning products directly on the table’s surface. Always apply to a cotton rag first, and then spread on the surface, removing the excess immediately with a clean and dry cloth.
- The cleaning products can’t be left on the table’s surface, it must be removed immediately with a clean and dry cloth. If the product remains on the surface, the finish may be damaged.
- If some liquid falls on the furniture, remove with a clean cloth moistened with water, and then use the cleaners as recommended.
Be aware: We do not, under any circumstances, recommend cleaners that contain bleaches, sodium hypochlorite, ammonia, silicones, oils (such as limonene and pine oil) or kerosene in their composition.
3. Handling
Avoid dragging your table; lift it up and put it down slowly. However, do not attempt to move it alone, as our pieces can sometimes be quite heavy.

For outdoor products, unless you choose otherwise, we will recommend species that are best suited to the elements. Most woods will gray over time or require regular application of a finish to maintain their colour. The same handling care is asked for outdoor products as well.
